Certificat de reconnaissance des citoyens de St. Andrews, 1910

Ce certificat émis en 1910 par les citoyens du village St. Andrews a été attribué à Maude E. Abbott afin de démontrer toute la reconnaissance et l’immense fierté qui les animent. On y souligne sa grande gentillesse et son apport exceptionnel à la recherche médicale. Au centre du certificat, on lit ce qui suit:

We the citizens of St. Andrews who have long admired the unselfishness of your life among us, and of whom may have had personal experience of your kindness wish to express to you the pride and joy felt at home in the honours which have come to you abroad.

From the distinctions won in your early girlhood to those recently conferred upon you by your Alma Mater, your attainments have been to your fellow townsmen an increasing pleasure and satisfaction.

We rejoice that you have done for our own university a work which will cause your name to be remembered in her annals, and that you have rendered to Science a service which has already extended your usefulness for beyond the bounds of our own country.

We beg that you will accept this slight expression of our esteem an to our hearty congratulations, we would add the earnest wish that you may long continue to reap the reward of self sacrifice in the success of your work and in the love and appreciation of your fellow countrymen.
