Lettre de Mary Lee au docteur Cushing (quatrième image)

Dans cette lettre du 5 août 1941, Mary Lee témoigne au docteur Cushing son appréciation d’une visite effectuée au Musée régional d’Argenteuil suite au décès de Maude Abbott.  « I am sure she would be delighted with your arrangements of the Museum and particularly with the Abbott room, which I think is a great success. »

«Je suis sûre qu’elle serait ravie de vos aménagements au Musée et particulièrement de la salle Abbott, qui je pense est un grand succès. »

August 5, 1941

Dear Dr Cushing!

I can’t tell how much it meant to me to see St. Andrews once more, & to be able to go over the Carillon Museum in its finished state. It was like a dream come true. It was most awfully good of you to arrange my day in Montreal so pleasantly for me and to take so much trouble over me.

I enjoyed every minute of it, -the drive out with your historical eye & knowledge explaining it as we went, – the visit to your charming house & garden, -the museum and last the tea with Dr. Abbott’s good friends and the stop to see Miss Funcheon. It all brought her spirit back to me so vividly and will be such as pleasant recollection to add to my many memories of her. I am sure she would be delighted with your arrangements of the Museum and particularly with the Abbott room, which I think is a great success. I am sure the collections at the museum will become more & more valuable every year & I am not at all sure that you should not get a tea room license & rent out a concession there each summer, as tea on the terrace at the back, or on the lawn as we had it would, I should think, bring crowds. They do it at Ticonderoga with great success. Every one always wants to eat!
